New Dail - New language to baffle you and make you forget 'austerity'.
@Tigerlil2 @Wexford_tweeter @irl_tax_expert Here you go. I do like the quaint design but it would be nice if there was a choice of backgrounds to use depending on the mood of the tweet or at least one other serious one.
There are no buttons or choice of font size etc. Main advantage is the longer tweets.
'If Greece does leave [the EU] and the effects are explosive, then it might – just might – finally persuade the Euro elite that their approach is bust, and that what is needed instead is a way for Europeans to trade and be friends without the architecture of an integrationist, incompetent, failed super-state.'
@sherlockciara @DisparatePost @MoranPaul52 @morningireland Has the Irish government ever mentioned the source of the so-called 'fluoride' - that it comes from cleaning the industrial waste from fertilizer factory chimneys such as Albatross, in New Ross? This stuff is so toxic that it is not allowed to be exposed of into the environment. It also contains lead, apart from the lead pipes.
@thesecondgoing @EDinCali @IrishCentral @IvorCrotty If Denis O’Brien doesn’t have ‘jurisdiction in Britain’, why is the BBC saying the following?
“Because of the injunction, the BBC can only report that Mr O'Brien was a major debtor to the former Anglo Irish Bank, and that when his loans had expired he sought the same terms from the bank that had allowed him to pay off his own loans in his own time at low interest rates.”
Argument for a Yes vote:
'A person can be elected to the national parliament at 21. Therefore there is no reason why they cannot aspire at that age to the highest office.'
This is not a valid argument as it doesn't compare like with like.
Argument for a No vote:
21 is too young. 'The assertion has to do with experience, wisdom, judgment and maturity.'
No wonder he had to erect a cage around himself before he uttered these offensive lies. WE DID NOT MAKE SACRIFICES. WE WERE ROBBED BY HIM AND HIS GOVERNMENT!! And we're still being robbed by this hypocrite and his cronies. RT @gavreilly: Enda: "It’s because of your sacrifices, that we can now say that Ireland and our economy is recovering. The bailout is over.” #fgnc15
It is timely to refrain from using the phrase 'people who *genuinely* can't afford to pay'. This suggests that people who 'won't pay' are not 'genuinely' doing so on a matter of principle - They 'genuinely' refuse to be conned by paying twice for the same thing - and that is just for starters. #Seanad
On a day when huge numbers of Irish people are desperately wondering whether the Seanad will support them against the disgraceful Irish Water legislation Bill 2014, dismissing the IW Debate as 'boring' is really pouring salt on their wounds.
I have always enjoyed reading your excellent articles but I found this very disappointing.
What struck me most today, watching the Dail re #Irishwater legislation amendments, was the sheer contrast between the integrity and intelligence of the Independent TDs compared to the utter hypocrisy, lies and treachery of the government.
Did I hear Enda Kenny correctly? They stopped having run-of-the-mill debates late at night because TDs couldn't be bothered turning up. So their solution was to hold urgent 'Topical' debates late at night instead i.e. #IrishWater
The intelligence of the FG/Lab government never ceases to amaze.
The Raven @TheRavenxx
The #IrishExemption from #watercharges was kept quiet by govt. We now have 1 week to stop Alan Kelly from relinquishing without mandate.
The above tweet I wrote before today is no longer valid as we no longer have '1 week to stop Alan Kelly from relinquishing without mandate.' He is planning to do this tonight 9 December 2014.
Please don't keep retweeting it as it now misinformation.
Veolia are in Ireland and they already have their tentacles in Irish Water.
We are ALREADY witnessing a de facto privatization scheme of our national water infrastructure by which leaching private corporations are milking hundreds of millions of euro from the Irish tax payers. This of coarse is facilitated by our corrupt, self-serving government.
It will amount to billions in a few short years, before even one pipe has been fixed.
By 2015 if all monies spent had been invested in the water systems instead of the corporate farce Irish Water we would be over half way there to the 6 billion need to have a state of the art Water system in the Republic of Ireland.
Months ago I researched three companies that I expected to try to take over our national water Infrastructure. One of them was Veolia
Was shocked when I saw their name on an Irish Water Van TODAY!
Veolia Water has been renamed many times, they are accused of perpetrating state sponsored war crimes on the west bank. They have gotten in the door in many, many countries around the world through the IMF and make exorbitant profits on the back of people's hardship trying to pay for water.
I can smell the stench of corruption from the government in Dublin from here in Thurles.
The amount of rain that falls in this country, Should I really have to worry about how many baths my 15 month old daughter takes per week? So that Veolia, GMC, Serria, Murphy, Denis O'Brien, Coffee and IBM, to name but a small few, can get paid?
Today I caught sight of one of those mysterious creatures we have all been hearing about.
I was about to cross the road when a small white van started to turn right in front of me. The driver waved me on after which he proceeded into a short cul-de-sac. As I carried on down the road, the same van passed me slowly again. Above the back doors were the words 'Slow Moving Vehicle'. It had an orange coloured flashing light on the roof.
Further down the main road the same van began to exit another cul-de-sac. This time I thought I had better stop him and ask if he had lost his way or something. This was his reply:
'Oh no, I'm just reading the meters'. The surprise on my face nudged him to add. 'You know - the water meters. See this thing on the roof of the van? That reads the meters'.
The surprise on my face wasn't because I was thick and needed to be spoken to in baby talk. It was there due to the speed at which the meters were being read. The little van just kept sailing around without stopping.
After a brief discussion about the meters, I told him he should come back tomorrow and join the protest against #IrishWater.
I don't know if it was my imagination but the little white van wasn't driving quite so slowly after that.
