@MoHFW_INDIA Namaste Sir/Madam
In India we are not using Presumed Consent for organ donation. So a person needs to opt in for organ donation. If we use Presumed Consent for organ donation. Our availability for organs will increase multifold (more than 50 thousand times).
As per NOTTO website number of organs required currently
Kidney 2,50,000
Liver 80,000
Heart 50,000
Cornea 1,00,000
Where as total Donors Pledge: 24140. Even less than 0.1% persons organ can be taken because all will not die in accident.
The population of India being 1.25 billion the participation is very less.
As per wikipedia Germany, which uses an opt-in system, has an organ donation consent rate of 12% among its population, while Austria, a country with a very similar culture and economic development, but which uses an opt-out system, has a consent rate of 99.98%.
