Teacher's Oath
In the wake of Trump’s victory, and because I have taught in the States, and in two other different countries, I would like to share my new Universal Teacher’s Oath.
I vowed to fulfill to my best ability and judgment, this contract:
• I will teach and treat students equally regardless of their race, religion, ethnic background, disability, and sexual orientation.
• I will teach tolerance, empathy, sympathy, diversity, and human dignity.
• It is my duty to protect my students against racial slurs, bigotry, and harassment.
• I will work with my school, and colleagues to promote democratic values of justice and fairness.
• I will remember that I not only teach content and skills but basic human rights and values.
• I hereby do solemnly declare as a teacher that I will practice my profession with conscience and dignity, and to the best of my ability protect and defend all my students.
