A Week's Vacation
You know what really bugs me about the dickspittle that goes by the name of Donald Trump? He's seriously cut into my time and therefore ability to enjoy what an interesting and possibly awesome season the New York Yankees are having. They dealt their way to one of the best minor league systems in the game at the trade deadline. They brought up all the kids to play. And right now they are two games out of the Wild Card. That's baseball nirvana -- and I have to waste time pondering Trump's endless ability to say and do the worst possible thing? It's unfair. And that's why I'm taking a week off. Starting Sunday night, 48 hours hence, I'm going to opt out of the election season. No cable news, no NY Times (except the puzzle), no political blogs, no twitter. No Facebook either. I'm going to watch Yankee games, I'm going to finish the awesome novel I'm reading -- The Nix -- and start another. I'm going to binge and finish Penny Dreadful. I'm going to watch and adore Donald Glover's ATLANTA. I'm going read a shit ton of comic books. I'm going to see if the kid, Gary Sanchez, can hit another home run. I'm going to listen to the 40th Anniversary CD of the Ramones first LP. I'm going to run five miles a day. (No, I'm not.) I'm going to live life as if a racist/fascist fake strongman real estate swindler is not within shouting distance of the White House. Best of all? I'm going to clean all of Trump's hatred right out of my head. He is, at least for a week, vanished. As he should be.
