- @CA_DMV I am on H1B visa which is getting expired on 2/4/2016 and so my DL. I have filed for H1B extension and have got receipt of submission I797C - which means I can legally stay here for 240 days. I went to Santa Ana DMV today and they said they cannot approve my DL renewal until i have H1B approval which means, I cannot drive till I get approval and that may take 3-6 months. I can stay in US, can work but can't drive. Can you please help me out here? atleast by giving temporary permit.
