ennis Hastert has received a 15 year sentence for criminally laundering money that he was paying to a person whom he’d sexually abused a long (long) time ago when he was an Illinois wrestling coach. Never much of a Congressional leader, Hastert is today a frail, broken man. Now it turns out that the accuser will sue him for $1.8 million of the hush money he never received (he got $1.7 million of $3.5 million promised before Hastert was arrested). This is overkill, not to say almost as seedy as Hastert’s original offense. The accuser characterized himself when he agreed to take money for his silence; the idea of his suit compounds that sell-out.
