e: Voters in the U.S. head to the polls today to choose between two starkly different candidates representing the two major political parties in the race to replace President Barack Obama. The New York Times’ latest polling aggregate puts Democrat Hillary Clinton ahead of Republican Donald Trump by a little more than three points, with 46.0 percent support. Also in the race are Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson, who was polling at 4 percent in the most recent Rasmussen poll of likely voters, and Green Party candidate Jill Stein, who received 2 percent in that survey. Polls across the country began opening at 6 a.m. ET, and the last closes at 1 a.m. ET.
