The obscene North Korean government is said to be preparing for another nuclear bomb test. It is the only nation still conducting such exercises. The first atomic test was in the U.S., in July, 1945, and, since then, eight nations are known to have detonated 2,053 devices from Lop Nor in China to Algeria (France) to Australia (Britain). The 23 American tests on Bikini atoll (Pacific Ocean) involved 20 hydrogen bombs, one of which was 1000 times as powerful at the wartime weapon dropped on Hiroshima, Japan. Some 167 Bikini residents were forced to move to other Marshall islands; it may now be safe to return, but no one has.
