Spring, 1832. Abe Lincoln, paragon of human rights, captained a militia company when the United States Army massacred men, women and children of the Sauk and Fox Indian nation. The latter, led by Chief Black Hawk, were looking for food and safety on their former tribal land. Army Lt. Jefferson Davis, paragon of human subjugation, took charge of Black Hawk after the chief was captured and likely saved his life from those who wanted to end it.
