Speaking of people getting off easy, we turn to U.S. Gen. David Petraeus (retired). Last year the former Army commander and CIA director pled guilty to providing his mistress/biographer with classified material (including sensitive codes). He was reprimanded and forced to pay a $100,000 fine, and the idea was to hold open a possible demotion. Now the Pentagon says he will not be demoted. Petraeus is still highly respected in the military, apparently for the woeful job he did leading the lost cause in Afghanistan. The handling of his case has been a good-old-boys hoax. His crime was severe; he deserves to be broken in rank and, surely, put in prison.
