NBC News reports that South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has accepted Donald Trump's offer to be his ambassador to the United Nations, according to a source familiar with the president-elect's transition process. Haley, who is 44, is a two-term governor who initially backed Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz during the GOP primary campaign, NBC News notes. She is the daughter of immigrants from India, and she served three terms in South Carolina's State House before becoming governor. NBC News also notes her limited foreign policy experience is likely to draw scrutiny during Senate confirmation hearings for the Cabinet-level position.
