Mr. Ali Amjad, Senior Officer, Electricity and Water Conservation department, Government of Dubai visited NMS to facilitate a session with students of Grade 7 and 8 on 27th January 2016, raising awareness on conservation.
Mr. Ali expressed his concern of how UAE uses double the amount of water and electricity than other neighboring GCC countries.
He shared various initiatives of DEWA to address this concern, including the Neighborhood Campaign, Every Drop Matters Campaign, Do Good to Planet Earth Campaign and many more. NMS students pledged to join their hands with DEWA and make these campaigns successful
Student Environment Ambassadors from Grade 7, Mridula, Dharitri, Nakshatra, Shazia and Michelle engaged in insightful discussions with Mr. Ali and are all geared to take a lead on conservation projects at NMS. They have already begun visiting classrooms during breaks and at dispersal to check if lights and projectors are switched off when not in use.
It is a delight to witness our students embark on this journey and make a valuable difference to the environment.
