Jean-Bertrand Aristide. The onetime (fine) shantytown priest was later to become another in a string of depraved and exiled leaders of Haiti. He killed opponents and robbed the national treasury. Now he has returned (like a zombie) to a rousing cheer from the sort of people who know no better. He says he wishes to promote better times in the country. But the bet is he wants only to wrest a way to return to power, whereupon he would kill more opponents and steal more state money. May a hougan put upon him a voodoo go-away spell; he’s already cursed.
