I suspect either Al-Nusra or ISIS behind the attack. Assad would have nothing to gain by using chemical weapons now. He’s got the upper hand on the jihadis now and liberated a certain amount of territory thanks to Russian intervention. I suspect Trump is getting some unbearable pressure from the neocon scum to go into Syria. While I’m not a fan of Assad, it’s really the Syrian people’s decision what to do with him. Syria is not America’s problem.
