I Love Overwatch

Hi. I'm Jessfox. If you're one of the 5 people who watches my stream, you know I rage a lot about Blizzard and the choices they make. That's why I feel my love and support for Overwatch, and today's decision to remove Tracer's over-the-shoulder pose means that much more.

Everyone is super upset that Blizzard is choosing to take out one of Tracer's poses, because "people get upset over anything." Take a moment to realize and accept that not everyone consumes media and is affected by it the same way as you do.

Personally, I was not upset about the pose, and have become numb to the over-sexualization of characters in video games. I grew up with it. I was a minority in the community, and it was either shut up and deal, or have no one/games to play with.

Being a victim of multiple sexual assaults, movies, books, comics, etc. with overly sexual themes/characterizations can sometimes make me extremely uncomfortable. Someone flirts with me in my stream/on social media that I do not know very well and I get kind of bent out of shape. So, when I have animated boobies and butts shoved in my face constantly, it can a bit unnerving. Now, since I'm mostly desensitized, I *PERSONALLY* wouldn't have requested a change. You'd think with my personal history, I would, right? That's what everyone needs to get. WE ALL ARE AFFECTED DIFFERENTLY. If removing a friggin pose focusing on the butt of a character(a pose commonly referred to as presenting) helps someone have a better time playing the game, isn't that a good thing? Don't we want people to play and enjoy the game with us?

Changing a character's pose in a video game won't cause a virtual earthquake that will swallow up everything and ruin Overwatch. It's a game where the team prides itself on creating a diverse group of characters.
