Austin Tech Company takes on "fake news"
An Austin tech start up is looking to clean up the web one user at a time. Authenticated Reality co-founders Christopher Ciabarra and Jessica Strickland have created a new web browser that requires users to prove they are who they say they are. After that, users can surf the web like normal but get the power to rate websites and articles. Strickland says, through real user ratings, an article can be labeled real or fake and you'll know because it says so right at the top. It doesn't stop there, if another user keeps posting inflammatory comments just to get a rise out of others, they can be rated too and if their ratting gets too low, their posts get moved to the bottom of the comment section.
