All the holier-than-them candidates. Questioning someone’s religious preference is not a fine American tradition. But it is occasionally part of the ratty side of political campaigning. Some say Barack Obama is a Muslim suspect; others believe a senate candidate in west Virginia, tsk-tsk, worships the Aqua Buddha. Open the windows. If someone wants to claim he’s a friend of his god, all right — pitiful, but all right. Otherwise, render unto Caesar a secular election
