About 'On a hot Summer Day in Gorakhpur', Sharique Jamal who himself is an accomplished Author/Poet says:
From page one, one is gripped by the intensity and intriguing manner the plot unfolds. Tanvir Salim has written a historical saga, a tale untold of a small town which played an epoch role in India's freedom movement.
The author makes his point not only with facts put subtly, but with a narration which is easy to relate to...the human element and the emotions, as the political turmoil builds up in the back ground.
It is not only related to uprising but the author has touched upon the contentious issues, as having caste or hierarchies within Islam, which we tend to ignore but is very much there.
A delightful reading, written with erudite brilliance and a novel which gave insights, which hitherto was unknown.
