Our Blanket, Our Nation

What a full circle moment and fitting of the hopes for a dexolonized education system built out of reconciliation...this was one of the blankets that each department at LA Matheson created to represent their unique "nations" for the beautiful, heart wrenching, informative, and deep Blanket excercise. I along with other ProD committee members and our our amazing EA Donna Mikl ( of FN ancestry) facilitates the Blanket Exercise for our staff...
How fitting that when each department took their blanket home ( perhaps an apt metaphor for how genocide never was successful in wiping out Indigenous Nations..perhaps keeping it within each individual Indigenous person) ...was displayed today as part of an Electives Fair to promote and celebrate different course options.
I can't help but feel so proud at this moment.
